Below are links to some of the websites and calculators I talk about in workshops about how to reduce costs and make everyday savings.
Comparison sites
Get into the habit of comparing insurances every time you need to renew - ideally 6 weeks in advance to get the best prices. Also remember that you can always cancel your current insurance, and move to another provider, so if you didn't compare before taking out your policy, then take a couple of minutes to see if you can get a better deal now. Some commonly used comparison sites are Confused.com, MoneySupermarket, GoCompare, Compare the Market.
These haggling scripts from Which? will also be useful when it comes to haggling the price of your car insurance, home insurance, mobile phone, broadband and second-hand cars.
If you want to know how to save money on broadband deals, then look no further! You can also read some great real-life success stories, which should help to motivate you to want to achieve the same success.
Mobile phones
Mobiles.co.uk are a great comparison site, who can help you to get the best deal on refurbished phones, contracts and SIM only plans.
When comparing deals for mobile phones you might also find Mobile Phone Checker useful, alongside this handy haggling guide from Money Saving Expert.
Energy Savings
Keeping track of the best deals on energy can be time consuming and frustrating, which is where Switchcraft comes in! They save their average customer over £200 per year, and it only takes 3 minutes to sign up. They promise to find you a great deal and say that you will pay less for energy, year after year, because they will alert you when you can make a saving on your current contract.
Overpayment calculators - how much could you save?
To see how much you could save by overpaying your mortgage use this calculator. If you would like to see how much of a difference you could make to any credit card debts, by increasing your payments, then please use this calculator.
Some cheaper TV options
Sky TV can take up a huge chunk of your monthly budget, if you are not careful. That's why it's great that there is now another option, with no contract, so that you can pick and choose what you want, when you want.
If you hardly ever watch TV in the summer, then simply cancel it over those months, then start it up again as the nights draw in, and you are wanting to snuggle down in front of the TV. Covering box sets, sports, Sky cinema and kids TV as well as many of your favourite Sky channels, NOW TV can be a great cost saver.
